On 8 December 2023, Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary, our Brother Thomas celebrated his Silver Jubilee of vows. Bishop Hugh, who as Abbot of Pluscarden had received these vows 25 years ago, was happliy able to join us for the day's Mass. There Br. Thomas renewed his vows, and sang again his "Suscipe". At Benediction following Vespers a solemn "Te Deum" of thanksgiving was sung.

Br. Thomas is from New Zealand. Just before covid struck he went home to see his parents: both of them sick and elderly. With severe travel restrictions in place he remained there at home for quite some time: indeed until he had overseen the pious deaths of both parents, RIP. On his return to Pluscarden, as well as resuming various other duties, he was given charge of our fruit and vegetable garden.
