Coronavirus precautions at Pluscarden (VIII)

Here are the latest measures at Pluscarden Abbey to comply with COVID-19 law and guidance.

Members of the public may come to Mass at Pluscarden Abbey at 8.00 a.m. on a Sunday: but only on condition that they first book in via our booking form (here), and receive a reply confirming that they can come. Hitherto, we had also been taking bookings for our 9am weekday Mass, but this has become unsustainable. The weekday Mass will not be open to the public until a further substantial alleviation of the pandemic.

Mass-goers will be asked to sanitise their hands on entry, to occupy a seat as indicated, to wear a face mask, to maintain social distance, to refrain from singing, not to congregate in a tight group outside the Church after the Mass.

Visitors are free to come up the front drive any time and look around, but at present it remains impossible for them to enter the Church buildings.

Currently the community is only able to accept a limited number of socially-distanced resident guests. St. Scholastica’s can accommodate larger bubble-groups. We are currently in Tier 1, and may not receive guests from addresses in Tier 3 or above, or from any area in lock-down. Intending guests should give thought to their social responsibilities before deciding to travel.

Any bookings that are made will be on a provisional basis, subject to current rulings from Westminster and Holyrood and our community’s situation, and therefore may be cancelled at short notice or with immediate effect.

Our shop is open (please only two people inside at a time).

Confessions are available at call, as usual, but are best heard these days out of doors.
