Clothing ceremony

On 11 December 2018 Br. Benedict Joseph Miller began a formal period of probation, with a view to transferring his vows to our community.

Br. Benedict Joseph is an American, who for some years has been a member of the Community of St. John.

After some preliminary visits to Pluscarden, and with the recommendation of his Superior General, and after spending some months as a postulant here, Br. Benedict Joseph was clothed in our white habit on the eve of the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Although he already has solemn vows, during his three year period of probation he will be treated in the community as a novice. Fr. Abbot decided that he should keep the name he took when he entered the Community of St. John, under the patronage of St. Benedict Joseph Labre.

The expectation is that our new brother would live out his monastic life at our dependent house in Petersham, USA: according to the discretion of Fr. Abbot.
